The Beauty of Flowers
Flowers are beautiful, and almost everyone likes at least some type of flower. There are indoor flowers, outdoor flowers, and flowers that can thrive just about anywhere. Flowers can really enhance a room, home or office. Their beauty is natural and was created by nature for our enjoyment. This is why women look forward to receiving bouquets of lovely roses or some other type of flowers for birthdays, Valentine’s Day, and other holidays throughout the year. Or they even receive them just because, when there is no holiday at all. For some reason, the mere sight of a lovely bushel of flowers brings a smile to most women’s faces. Even some men enjoy the sight of flowers, although most probably wouldn’t admit it.
There are many places to buy flowers. Flower shops, nurseries, and even some grocery stores sell flowers. In some large areas, private vendors will even sell flowers on the streets for special holidays such as Easter, Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day. This is a very convenient way to purchase flowers for special occasions, especially for busy individuals.
Some people who love flowers choose not to buy them, buy decide to grow them in their own garden instead. Growing your own flowers is a very economical way for you to obtain large amounts of flowers. The flowers that you grow can then be used in any way that you choose. You can sell them, give them away as gifts, or even keep them to beautify your home. Growing your own flowers is a wonderful way to beat stress and depression. This is due to its therapeutic abilities. There is just something healing about getting your hands dirty as you dig through the soil to plant seeds and bulbs. And it also makes you feel good and increases your self-esteem when the lovely flowers start blooming, and you realize that you did it all by yourself. You didn’t have to hire a professional to do a thing. If you discover that you love gardening extremely well, you can even do it for a living. You could become a florist and open your own flower shop, or you could create lovely gardens for other people so that they will be as mesmerized by the beauty of flowers as you are. So, whichever types of flowers you like to buy or grow, they’re sure to brighten your life, even in the smallest way.

What can I do to bring beauty and life to my front yard (flowers, windchimes, hanging plants, yard statues)?
And could you give me details as to what kind of plants, flowers, and/or trees that would add color to my yard? =) Thanks!
Have you thought about birdfeeders? Some are very inexpensive and birds come from all over. Flowering bushes (azaleas are popular here in the south) don’t need a lot of care but are beautiful when they flower. Up north, I loved lilac trees which also come in bushes. The smell is heavenly and they have lots of flowers. If you have a trellis or a wall or fence for something to climb up, plant jasmine. Jasmine has little white flowers with dark green glossy leaves. It grows quick and is very fragrant. Any bright colored flowers you plant will attract butterflies! Try a butterfly bush! Comes in all sorts of colors.

well it depends a lot on what type of light it gets – full sun(petunuias, begonias, marigolds, geraniums). Shade(hostas, impatiens, coleus). Flower beds need to have a mixture of colors and heights. Also use a variety of periennals(come back year after year) and annuals( live one year only and then die. If you plant only annuals every year its going to get expensive and time consuming. Periennals are things like stella d’ora daylillies, hostas, creps myrtles etc.

I dont know where you live, temperatures, climates, what seasons like, full sun, partial, shade, etc. But definately flowers brighten up anywhere. Go buy some bulbs in the spring & fall plant them accordingly, seeing some daffodils, & tulips pop up in sproing, so homey & nice. Also just some flats of flowers at local big home store, or local nurseries. Plant around sidewalks, around any existing trees. 2 nice big flower pots if garage up front, 1 pot on each side of garage, or just 1 at front door. make a mixture of colors-real bright. also soem flowering ornamental trees for the front is nice. maybe if you have a little spot, nook, corner for a bench, under a tree, up by porch, flowers around that, maybe a nice bush that attracts butterflies, hummingbirds–ask local nursery. some nice stones or fresh mulch around the flower beds you’ll plant. so go with a variety of flowers, just go to nursery read the little labels, it will tell you where to plant in sun, shade, partial, etc. Hey maybe even a little fountain for a focal point, nice touch! you creative, have time, or money to hire someone if you dont want to do, a nice little pond, flowers, greenery, wildgrass around that.

Flowers! You can have pots by your front door. If you have a porch, baskets would be great. Plant a mix of perennials and annuals in front of the shrubs in front of your house. Perennials come back year after year! Plant some around any trees. This can do wonders!
I love petunias, geraniums, zinnias, impatients, salvia. There are many flowering shrubs and trees available also. Check with your local nursery … they can give you many wonderful ideas. Just be sure to read the labels on the plants to see if they grow in full sun, shade or sun/shade.
You could even add a birdbath or some garden art for personality.
Have fun!
